In a move seen as almost inevitable by many in the music business, Nancy Berry has resigned as vice chairman of Virgin Records Group. The move comes just days after her estranged husband Ken Berry was replaced at the helm of Virgin parent EMI Recorded Music by ex-Polygram chief Alain Levy. Virgin Records vice chairman Nancy Berry, the estranged wife of ousted music executive Ken Berry, Tuesday became the latest casualty of a restructuring at ailing British music company EMI Group Plc, where the couple reigned over rock ‘n’ roll for several years. Virgin Records announces a November 20 release date for ‘Goddess In The Doorway,’ the hotly-anticipated solo album from iconic performer Mick Jagger. ‘Goddess In The Doorway’ marks the label debut for Jagger as a solo artist, his first such outing since 1993’s ‘Wandering Spirit.’ The 12-track collection features Jagger’s collaborations with such luminaries as Lenny Kravitz, Bono, Rob Thomas and Wyclef Jean, and musical support from Pete Townshend and Joe Perry, among others. VH1 is going bananas with New York-based music events. On Thursday the music cable channel announced it was joining with Miramax and Cablevision to present a Madison Square Garden benefit concert featuring Paul McCartney and the Who for victims of the attack on the World Trade Center. Clear Channel has identified 150 songs that are considered to be “lyrically inappropriate” for airplay in the wake of the terror attacks carried out in the U.S. on Tuesday, September 11. A Clear Channel spokesperson has confirmed that the list has been circulated among its stations across the country. The lyrical content targeted by the list includes any references to death, flying, September, or general destruction.
