Just as he’s reached the top of the album charts for the first time, Kid Rock has made a major change at the top of his business operations. Rock’s manager, Detroit-based Ed “Punch” Andrews, who also handles Bob Seger, has resigned after seven years of working with the Michigan rocker. VH1 is resurrecting back its “Pop Up Video” series in a mobile-only format starting Monday, the music cable network said. The original “Pop,” which stopped airing in 2002 on the Viacom-owned channel, featured music videos with informational bubbles that popped up with facts and trivia about the artists, song or related subject matter. The new installment of original videos, “Pop Up Video to Go,” will be offered cross carrier exclusively on VH1’s mobile network and will be updated weekly. After Rich Cronin’s initial battle with leukemia in 2005, the former LFO singer made it his mission to educate the world on the importance of donating blood and stem cells. Such is the lot of Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, purveyors of a Splenda version of pop-punk so lightweight that only Top 40 radio will touch it. Just as Green Day’s American Idiot has a theme running through it, so too do the band’s videos from the album – they all share the vision of director Samuel Bayer. After working with Bayer for “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Holiday,” the band hooked up with him again for “Wake Me When September Ends” after the guys returned from a sold-out Asian tour at the end of March.
