*NSYNC will not be performing at the all-star salute to Michael Jackson due to scheduling conflicts, according to the event’s producer David Gest. Southern California punk stalwarts Bad Religion were forced to cancel their European tour due to drummer Bobby Schayer’s shoulder injury. Moreover, the damaged rotator cuff will take him out of the band’s lineup permanently. The injury prohibits Schayer from lifting his arm above his shoulder, effectively ending his drumming career, according to the band’s publicist. Suicidal Tendencies drummer Brooks Wackerman is slated to replace the fallen percussionist. Sonic Foundry Inc. announced its partnership with Reprise Records to create and host the Depeche Mode “Exciter” Remix contest at Sonic Foundry’s ACIDplanet.com website. Two tracks from Depeche Mode’s latest release, “Exciter,” will be available on June 18 for remixing at ACIDplanet (www.acidplanet.com). In what is being touted as a major coup, FUBU Records has signed the Detroit-based rapper Drunken Master to a recording contract. FUBU beat out a number of other labels to sign the highly courted artist, whose song “Fifty Playas Deep” is currently #1 on Detroit radio. The deal represents the label’s first signing through its joint venture arrangement with Universal Records.
