Injury Forces Barker off +44 tour

Drummer Travis Barker is leaving a European tour with his new band +44 because of an unhealed fractured arm. The former Blink-182 drummer had been on tour despite a fractured right arm he suffered Sept. 9 while filming a video, according to Interscope Records. Barker, 31, will return to Los Angeles to be treated. The band, fronted by former Blink-182 singer and bassist Mark Hoppus, has not announced a replacement drummer. A message left at Interscope Records was not immediately returned Sunday. Barker starred in the MTV reality series “Meet the Barkers” with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, to whom… Read more »

Blink-182's Hoppus, Barker Form Electronic Side Project

Ever since that fateful February day when Blink-182 announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus, fans of the band have been clamoring to know just what the future holds for their beloved Mark, Tom and Travis. For the most part the guys have remained silent, aside from a few vaguely worded statements from drummer-turned-reality-TV-star Travis Barker. So MTV News sat down with singer/bassist Mark Hoppus, and while he claimed the group’s current hiatus had been planned for some time, he also made it sound like Blink fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a reunion. “We’ve always planned to have… Read more »

Blink-182 Releasing 'I Miss You' When Barker Takes Break

They used to be irreverent punks out for cheap thrills and even cheaper laughs, but now Blink-182 are a changed band. Their untitled new record is more experimental and multidimensional than 2001’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, adding a variety of styles (electronic rock; jangly, melancholy pop; reflective alt-rock) to their foundation of bouncy beats and kinetic guitars. It’s also more lyrically developed, trading tales of adolescent relationships for more serious dilemmas of adulthood. As singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge sang in the band’s 1997 breakthrough hit “Dammit,” “I guess this is growing up.” Growing up has a lot to do… Read more »

Blink 182's Mark Hoppus Wowed By Barker's Drum Set-Up

Blink 182 feels comfortable following Green Day on the Pop Disaster tour partially due to the fact that Travis Barker’s drum set is a show-stopper. Barker’s drum kit rotates, spins, and elevates over the stage during the band’s performance. Blink 182 singer/bassist Mark Hoppus revealed where his wacky drummer got the idea. “Travis is a big fan of Tommy Lee and I think he wanted to try and outdo him for the drum stunt thing. I haven’t actually ever seen the Tommy Lee thing, but I think it would be pretty f-king hard to beat what Travis is doing right… Read more »
