XM On Schedule For Commencement Of National Rollout Sept. 12


XM Satellite Radio today announced that the first-ever AM/FM/XM satellite radio shipments began arriving in the United States in preparation for the company’s September 12 launch of its satellite radio service. The service features 100 digital- quality channels including 71 music channels, of which more than 30 are 100% commercial-free. In addition, XM will offer 29 news, talk, sports and entertainment channels. The company expects that in December of this year, there will be 100,000 XM radios available at more than 6,000 electronics retailers nationwide ready for the important holiday season. Viacom Sees MTV As Key To International Strategy


Media titan Viacom Inc. plans to use its MTV Networks unit as the foundation of its global strategy, with focus on emerging markets in China, India and Brazil, its chief executive Sumner Redstone said on Sunday. We had an awesome chat this week with Reggae Singer Songwriter Vana Liya! Vana made a serendipitous arrival on the national music scene after she posted several ukulele covers of popular reggae songs to social media, which garnered the support of top original artists and led to a 2018 record deal with L.A.-based LAW Records. She has since been quickly earning a reputation among many of her well-established musical peers as a solid collaborator who always brings a fresh take and positive energy to the mix with her distinct yet not easily classifiable “island” vibe.
