Once members wrap up some individual projects, the award-winning group will reunite to record, with a fall release date in mind. Concert tours to Southeast Asia have become the latest casualty of recent bomb blasts in Bali and the Philippines with veteran jazz guitarist George Benson and rock groups Red Hot Chili Peppers and Oasis canceling shows. “George Benson did cancel some dates that he had lined up for Indonesia,” promoter Nigel Peters said on Tuesday. “It’s obviously a direct relation to the Bali bombing. Since things went so well during the weekend reunion of the Grateful Dead’s surviving members, the band has decided to go ahead with a fall tour. “All I can say is that the fall tour was set and approved contingent on a good weekend and since it was a far better than good weekend I am certainly confident the shows will go,” said Dennis McNally, the band’s publicist and biographer. The first commercial radio station to cybercast its over-the-air playlist is among the first to fall victim to newly imposed royalty rates for online broadcasts. KPIG stopped streaming music online Thursday, ending a near seven-year run on the Internet. According to its own estimates, the small-scale station would have been forced to pay $24,000 in back royalties (or approximately $3,000 per month) from this year alone on an arm of the station that generates little or no revenue on its own.
