SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. – A cold Saturday in the middle of January was not enough to dissuade a crowd of approximately 150 loyal fans gathered inside a converted warehouse for a good old-fashioned evening of sing-a-longs and hand clapping.
GO-KART RECORDS announce the release of the GO-KART MP300 RACEWAY on November 4th. Not only is this an awesome compilation CD with 300 songs (yes, 300 songs!) from 150 bands, it’s also the FIRST EVER commercially sold MP3 CD. That’s 300 songs from 150 bands (all CD quality MP3s) on two CDs for only $9.99! At the very least, give credit to New Found Glory and Good Charlotte for getting teenage girls enthusiastic about rock that has real guitars and real drums. More than that, those two pop-punk bands deserve to be saluted for the energy and enthusiasm they displayed at their show Wednesday night at the University of California, Irvine’s Bren Events Center. But no one can applaud them for nuance or finesse. Their performances are like this: Go from zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds, and keep it there. The kids who filled the Bren Center loved it. McCracken said the Used will tour through October, beginning in January, headlining a West Coast trek with Taking Back Sunday, New Transit Direction and the Blood Brothers. An East Coast stint will follow in February with Finch, the Movielife and My… Read more »

Twelve hours, four stages and more than 40 bands marked the end of the three-day Skate and Surf Festival on Sunday. Held at the Asbury Park Convention Hall, the second installment of the now annual event featured performances from Bouncing Souls, Face to Face and the Descendents, among many others. While the Warped Tour travels from town to town with many of skateboarding and BMX culture’s best-known athletes and favorite artists, the stationary Skate and Surf tends to be more down-home, offering quarter-pipes and rails to anybody bold enough to show up with a bike or a board and a… Read more »
The Lostprophets are preparing for the release of Start Something, the successor to the group’s 2001 independently released, The Fake Sound of Progress. The new Lostprophets album is produced by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Good Charlotte) and features the first single, “Last Train Home,” which was the unexpected #1 most added track at modern rock radio this week and #2 most added at the active rock format. The stations who have added the track include the Los Angeles based modern rock pacesetter KROQ. Start Something is scheduled to be released on February 3, 2004. The group recently… Read more »
