Jason Stollsteimer of the Von Bondies is rejecting Jack White’s claim of self-defense in their fight last December 13 in Detroit. White has been charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault in the incident during a show at a local club, at which White allegedly struck Stollsteimer repeatedly, sending him to the hospital. Stollsteimer revealed that he never took at swing at the White Stripes leader. “It wasn’t a fight,” Stollsteimer said. “I never even hit him. I didn’t know who it was. It took ’til the second thing he said for me even to realize who it was, ’cause I hadn’t… Read more »

It looks like Jack White’s broken finger has healed at least well enough to throw punches at other garage rockers. With songs like “Fat Lip” and “Motivation,” Sum 41 developed a reputation for cheekiness and tomfoolery. Their new album doesn’t exactly transform them into tree-hugging environmentalists or pulpit-preaching activists, but it shows the bandmembers leaning toward maybe growing up just a little… kinda. Many songs on Does This Look Infected?, due November 26, aren’t about downing brews, scamming chicks or teenage angst. Instead, Sum 41 singer and lyricist Deryck Whibley addresses issues a little more sobering. “I guess I watched too much CNN while making this record,” he said. “Also, I guess I’m getting older. When you’re young you have… Read more »
With a sound that calls to mind the likes of The Black Keys, The White Stripes, and Kasabian, Orthodox is one of those records that is meant to be heard live in the middle of a rowdy crowd on a hot Saturday night in some too-cramped club.
Old Friends Records has signed Hellogoodbye. The band is currently in the studio with multi-Grammy Award winning producer Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes, The Strokes), recording a new full-length studio album slated for an April 2013 release.
20 years ago Yeah Yeah Yeah released Fever To Tell, an album that would go on to influence a whole musical movement. This is why it is still so special.
