A business management and accounting firm sued Courtney Love for nearly $1 million on Tuesday, claiming she failed to pay them a share of profits from the sale of Nirvana’s publishing catalog. Actor Michael Pitt’s plans to release a new album and tour the U.S. have been defended by his label boss, Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore, who describes the indie star as an ‘artist’. Legally challenged rocker Courtney Love can put “parent” back on the list of things she sometimes does-right up there with “sing” and “act.” A judge ruled Monday that Love could regain custody of her 12-year-old daughter, Frances Bean, whose father is the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. “Frances has been returned to [Love] after a judge indicated satisfaction in Ms. Love’s efforts to turn around her life and found it was in the best interests of mother and daughter to be reunited,” Love’s attorney, Howard Weitzman, said in a statement. SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Rolling Stone magazine’s four-star review of Nirvana’s recently released “With the Lights Out” (Geffen/UMe) box set concludes with, “if you think you want it, you do.” It turns out that America DOES want it, and in record numbers. The three-CD/one-DVD rarities compilation MORE THAN DOUBLED the previous record for box sets sold in a week during the soundscan era with 105,760 (the previous mark was held by Bruce Springsteen’s “Tracks” with 46,516).
