The 59-year-old former Beatle proposed to his girlfriend, Heather Mills, on Monday during a trip to Britain’s Lake District, his publicist said. The two are planning to marry sometime next year. Paul McCartney’s Wingspan project looks to be as much a tribute to his late wife, Linda, as it is to his former band Wings. Paul Simon has replaced Paul McCartney at the 25th annual Kennedy Center Honors taking place in Washington in December. Last week, the former Beatle sent his regrets to the organizers of the Kennedy Center Honors, explaining that a personal obligation would not permit him to attend the ceremony on December 7.
