The first challenge of properly absorbing Benjamin Gibbard’s first solo album Former Lives: separating the Death Cab For Cutie and Postal Service versions of Gibbard from the solo one. The new album is more gritty and acoustic than his former beloved gentle indie catalogue, true, but Former Lives needs to be experienced in its own right without any shackles of the past.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming My Chemical Romance Long Live The Black Parade stadium tour. And fans think that more surprises are on the way! Per a post from @endlessnightMCR, there’s a theory that My Chem may have a new video on the way as it seems like there is an unlisted private video on their channel. Four Year Strong has officially dropped a pop-punk cover of Stone Temple Pilots‘ beloved track “Vasoline.” The cover is set to appear on Pabst Blue Ribbon and Pure Noise Records‘ compilation cover album, Dead Formats: Vol. 3. At this year’s Riot Fest, a manifold of performers showed up and showed out at the Chicago-based punk festival. From Taylor Acorn and Death Cab For Cutie to Sleep Token and Death Grips, there was a fabulous set for every kind of alternative fan. Of course, the fest closed out with a 2.5-hour, career-spanning headline performance from The Cure on Sunday, September 17. Playing tracks from Japanese Whispers all the way to Disintegration and Pornography, fans were treated to top hits and B-sides alike, including an eight-song encore.
