The surviving members of legendary punk group The Clash will not perform when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this month, bass player Paul Simonon said Saturday. One of the most influential bands to emerge from the British punk movement of the 1970s, The Clash split up in the mid-1980s and never reformed. A DVD chronicling the life of the late Drowning Pool frontman Dave Williams is in the works, and it may also aid in the realization of one of his longtime ambitions. Sharon Osbourne seems to be doing well following her first session of chemotherapy Monday, with husband Ozzy by her side. She’s in “very good spirits – she’s very upbeat,” the Osbournes’ spokesperson told USA Today. Sharon’s three-month chemo prescription is treating the cancer that was initially thought to be confined to her colon, but following an operation, was found to have spread. She was first diagnosed with the disease earlier this month. With funeral plans remaining to be announced, family, friends and fans said a second good-bye to the late Layne Staley on Friday night. Though the singer’s Alice in Chains bandmates, friends and family members gathered on April 20, the day after police first discovered Staley’s body in his home, for a small and impromptu candlight vigil, fans then organized a much larger eulogy to the singer at the same location, the International Fountain at the Seattle Center. The Democratic Party brought its Every Vote Counts voter registration efforts to the forefront Wednesday night in New York. Michael Jackson, Chris Tucker, Tony Bennett and other celebrities joined the likes of former President Bill Clinton and members of the Democratic National Committee at Harlem’s Apollo Theatre for a concert fundraiser.
