BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – On Dec. 10, Profiles in History, the leading company in live/simultaneous Internet Hollywood memorabilia auctions, will offer the above original costume design sketch (by designer Bill Travilla) of the famed white billowy dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the subway scene of Billy Wilder’s 1955 “Seven Year Itch” along with an exact copy of dress itself. eMOTIVEe(Virgin/EMI) Laced with cover songs and rush-released as an anti-war, anti-Bush protest record, there’s no denying A Perfect Circle’s noble intent with eMOTIVe. The checkered musical adventure features, amongst others, takes on Depeche Mode’s “People Are People,” Black Flag’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme,” Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” and the ubiquitous “Imagine.” The problem though, is the atmospheric, swirling and, frankly, passive reinterpretations APC present. There’s something a little different about Black Sabbath’s performance at Ozzfest nowadays, and if you blink you might miss it. Two images of George W. Bush, shown during Sabbath’s performance of the metal classic “War Pigs,” have been removed from the video montage that accompanies the song, which usually kicks off the band’s headlining set. Fans of safe and sentimental melodic pop-rock were treated to the best of both worlds Thursday, when Something Corporate and Yellowcard hit the Roseland Ballroom stage near the end of their six-week co-headlining tour. Where Something Corporate mostly played amidst an air of soul-baring and introspection, Yellowcard’s cheer and bravado helped dissipate any gray clouds that may have hovered overhead. A new document leaked Tuesday (December 9) reveals that Michael Jackson was investigated on sexual abuse allegations in February and that investigators found those charges to be “unfounded.” A memo from the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, dated November 26 and leaked on the Smoking Gun Web site, says a Los Angeles Unified School District official called the agency’s child-abuse hotline soon after the airing of “Living With Michael Jackson” on February 6. Melissa Etheridge married Tammy Lynn Michaels in California on Saturday (September 20), despite the fact that the state does not recognize same-sex unions. The 42-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer and the 28-year-old up-and-coming actress dated for two years before tying the knot.
