BMG set to mine several catalogs for Heritage label


BMG Entertainment has formed BMG Heritage, a label to maximize the music group’s catalog repertoire from BMG-owned Arista Records, Buddha Records, RCA, RGL, Windham Hill and Private Music. BMG Heritage will launch Jan. 1. Alex Miller will head BMG Heritage as senior vp. He will report to Pete Jones, president and CEO of BMG Distribution and BMG Associated Labels. Rapper DMX has a "Great'' launch


Rapper DMX and hard rockers Incubus landed one-two this week atop the SoundScan album charts for the week ended Oct. 29, the last week before the heavy-hitters start flooding the marketplace in time for the holidays. DMX’s latest for Universal/Def Jam, “Great Depression,” sold 440,000 units in its first week out, topping Incubus’ fourth album, “Morning View” (Epic), which logged 266,000 in sales. ''God'' tops U.S. record charts


Retailers have seen a groundswell in demand for music with patriotic themes in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, sending record labels scrambling to keep the supply coming. Puddle Of Mudd Line Up Tour, Radio Festivals

'NSYNC Push Back Tour, Album Release


‘NSYNC hit their legion of fans with a double whammy Wednesday morning. Their record company, Jive, announced that not only has the group delayed the release of its new album, Celebrity, from June 26 to July 24, but the start of the boys’ PopOdyssey tour has been pushed back again as well. Fair Expected To Be Named A&M President


Ron Fair has been named president of A&M Records, Interscope Geffen A&M is expected to announce today. Fair comes to A&M from RCA, where he was senior vp A&R since 1993. The A&M presidency has been vacant since Interscope Geffen A&M was combined under chairman Jimmy Iovine in 1999 as a result of Universal Music Group’s merger with PolyGram.
