Thrice Educate, Give Fans 'All That's Left' With Major-Label Debut

The backstage area of this year’s Vans Warped Tour often resembled a punk-rock frat party, according to Thrice frontman Dustin Kensrue. There was plenty of partying and more than a few juvenile practical jokes perpetrated by the bands and their crews. Such situations can be flat-out dangerous, and sometimes injuries ensue. A few weeks ago, Thrice drummer Riley Breckenridge damaged his back while reaching under the band’s bus. Was he looking for water balloons filled with sour milk to throw at the members of Pennywise? Nope. He was trying to remove his suitcase from the storage compartment, and in the… Read more »

Sum 41 Abandon 'Infected' Project, Eager To Spend Money Stupidly

Sum 41 are anxious for sum vacation. The group originally planned on releasing “Over My Head, (Better Off Dead)” as the third single from Does This Look Infected?, but are now questioning whether they want to continue promoting the album. “We’re kind of like, dead right now, so we’re thinking we just might stop,” singer Deryck Whibley said. “We could put out another single and keep going, but we’ve been touring nonstop for a long time and we really want a break, so I think we might want to take six months off.” And there are other reasons Sum 41… Read more »

Iggy Pop To Release New Album; 'Beat 'Em Up' Due In July

Iggy Pop, the undisputed godfather of punk, is slated to release another blistering sonic assault in July. Entitled “Beat ‘Em Up,” the album is a return to form for the astonishingly ageless Pop, whose last release was 1999’s “Avenue B.” “Beat ‘Em Up,” to be released from Virgin Records America, was produced by Iggy, and engineered by Danny Kader. Joining Iggy are Whitey Kirst (guitar), Alex Kirst (drums), Pete Marshall (guitar) and Lloyd “Mooseman” Roberts (bass). Sadly, Mooseman, formerly of Body Count, was murdered in a drive-by shooting this past winter. Pete Marshall will take over bass duties for Iggy’s… Read more »

Linkin Park Singer Guests On Cyclefly's Next Album

Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington was apparently impressed by the band’s performance when he saw them group live at the Whisky in West Hollywood, Calif., in the summer of 1999 (singer Declan O’Shea’s shockingly bright red hair, pixie body, pale white skin, and piercing vocals make the band impossible to be overlooked live). Bennington kept in contact with the Cork, Ireland-based band, and when the group asked for him to sing on a track for the new album, he gladly obliged. Bennington lends vocals to the song “Karma Killer.” Tales from the Fishbowl, which was produced by Colin Richardson (Fear… Read more »

17 Songs That Could Be Featured on a Modern Twilight Soundtrack

“How long have you been 17?” As it turns out, Twilight—the film that defined a generation of teenage longing—has officially turned 17 itself. Released in 2008, Catherine Hardwicke’s adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s brooding vampire romance captured a cultural moment of forbidden love, both on screen and through a soundtrack that further immersed the film in an alternative climate. But if Twilight were released today, what would it sound like? 17 years after the film’s original release, we’re reimagining an already iconic soundtrack to echo the emotional weight that spoke to a Team Edward or Team Jacob generation. Here are 17… Read more »

Waterparks Unleash “IF LYRICS WERE CONFIDENTIAL”

After debuting their latest single at Reading and Leeds last month, Waterparks has officially unleashed “IF LYRICS WERE CONFIDENTIAL.” “A lot of the songs on the next Waterparks album play with big, abstract concepts, and IF LYRICS WERE CONFIDENTIAL was one of those,” frontman Awsten Knight shares. “The premise is exactly what it sounds like – things I’d get into if I didn’t think anyone would ever hear the song, which in my opinion is the best way to write. It’s how you get yourself to talk about the most personal and uncomfortable things. The lyrics brush through a lot… Read more »

Waterparks Hate Half Of Their Fans

Waterparks offered exciting sets at this past weekend’s Reading and Leeds in the UK, and they even debuted their new song, “If Lyrics Were Confidential.” And lead singer Awsten Knight kicked off the new track, preceded by their BMG debut “Red Guitar,” with punchy and blunt lyrics. “I hate 50% of our fans/And the other half understands/And to the ones who don’t/Go cry and choke on both of my middle finger ringed up hands,” he sings. Knight even shares a verse about his mom saying, “Don’t forget my mom wakes up and reads half the crazy bullshit on her feed/She’s… Read more »

WE ARE SO BACK, BABY! We’ve heard a lot from Awsten Knight this year—between collaborations alongside 5 Seconds Of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford as well as Sorry My Love—he’s been booked and busy. But now we’re FINALLY hearing from Waterparks themselves. Marking their first official release of 2025 and the first real taste of new material since 2023’s Intellectual Property, the trio has dropped their latest sonic serotonin shot: “Red Guitar.” And while Knight insists we hear red, all signs point to yellow. On June 20, the band announced they’d be crashing the Reading & Leeds lineup on August 22,… Read more »

Plus, Stephen Harrison and Aric Improta also announced an EP release show set at Los Angeles’ The Roxy on May 24. The duo shares, “The goal with ‘Fire’ was to write something with as much infectious energy as possible. A song that could invoke as much dancing as it does moshing. It’s a hard balance to pull off. Wallows Soar Up, Up And Away On “Coffin Change”

If you thought Wallows was done blessing you with new music, guess again. The band announced in early February that their forthcoming EP More, due out on March 28, is the follow-up to 2024’s Model. To give a taste of what’s to come, the indie-rock trio dropped “Coffin Change” alongside a music video. Braeden Lemasters sings, “If there’s a price to pay, maybe I’ll find it in my pocket/Pinching all my pennies ‘til they shove me in my coffin,” over surf-rock melodies and nostalgia-inducing synths. Check out the “Coffin Change” music video shot by Cloudy Thoughts below and pre-save the… Read more »
