Sum 41 Abandon 'Infected' Project, Eager To Spend Money Stupidly

Sum 41 are anxious for sum vacation.

The group originally planned on releasing “Over My Head, (Better Off Dead)” as the third single from Does This Look Infected?, but are now questioning whether they want to continue promoting the album.

“We’re kind of like, dead right now, so we’re thinking we just might stop,” singer Deryck Whibley said. “We could put out another single and keep going, but we’ve been touring nonstop for a long time and we really want a break, so I think we might want to take six months off.”

And there are other reasons Sum 41 want a break.

“We gotta spend our money in stupid ways and we haven’t done that yet,” Whibley said.

What will he buy?

“Who cares?” he answered.

If the group does go on vacation, it won’t be until September. Through all of July, Sum 41 are joining random Warped Tour dates, playing Canadian shows and doing other festivals, including Rolling Rock Town Fair on July 26. August will find the band playing in Australia, Germany and the U.K., for the Leeds and Reading Festivals Indeed”).

And when the break does come, it will not be entirely without work. “For me, personally, I can’t stop writing,” Whibley said.

“Over My Head, (Better Off Dead)” has already been released overseas. The video is available to view on Sum 41’s Web site.
