It looks like capitalization and spacing is no good any more for Fred Durst. He posted a message on Limp Bizkit’s Web site saying the band will now be known as limpbizkit with no capitals and no space between words. He gives no reason for the change. He seems to like playing around with words lately, given the changes he makes to the new album’s title. Limp Bizkit has announced that Bipolar will be the title of its next studio album, due out May 13. None of the tracks to appear on Bipolar have been announced, but Limp Bizkit has posted a new song, titled “Just Drop Dead,” on the band’s official website (limpbizkit.com). In a written introduction to the song, frontman Fred Durst notes, “It’s a crazy world we live in, and too many people can’t be honest. Linkin Park’s new album, Meteora, is at the pressing plant right now waiting to be multiplied and distributed around the world, according to DJ Joe Hahn. Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst settled a $5 million lawsuit filed by a young woman who was hit in the face with a microphone he threw to the side of the stage. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Lighting technician Connie Paulson contended that Durst threw a microphone at her with “no provocation” and with “disregard,” knocking a tooth out, breaking her nose, and causing two black eyes after the band’s Birmingham, Alabama appearance on the Anger Management Tour in 2000. Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst settled a $5 million battery lawsuit filed by a former lighting technician who claimed he hit her and broke her nose during the “Anger Management” tour, their lawyers confirmed Tuesday. Terms of the settlement, reach last month, were not released. “It’s a confidential settlement, and they’re going on with their lives,” said Connie Paulson’s attorney, Lawrence Ecoff. After making an “Unplugged” performance with the Roots, it seems that Jay-Z can’t get enough of performing with big-name backup. Korn bassist Fieldy, Limp Bizkit drummer John Otto and Static-X guitarist Wayne Static will back up Jigga when he performs at the ESPN Action Sports & Music Awards ceremony, which will be held on April 13 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Limp Bizkit’s tour manager said today (March 1) that a Sydney concert where a teenage girl was killed was understaffed and poorly managed. Alexander Murdoch MacLeod was the first person from the Fred Durst-led band’s management to appear at the Australian inquest into the death of 15-year-old Jessica Michalik, who was caught in a crowd crush and suffered a heart attack at the concert on Jan. 26, 2001.
