We can’t stop listening to Bastille cover Miley Cyrus.
Recorded from his apartment in North Hollywood, this week’s Gone Fishkin takes place while Fish is on the road with the Vans Warped Tour. He takes on the show co-host-less, and tells stories about Hopeless Records BBQ’s, Jack Barakat’s birthday party, and his latest trip to Vegas, before chatting with Crash The Party, Rivers Monroe, and Lost In Society.
“UFO: Unbelievably Freakin’ Obvious” for cable network Syfy has Cyrus and his 21-year-old son Trace investigating conspiracy theories.
Miley Cyrus took a break from shooting “The Last Song” on the Georgia coast by borrowing a guitar and treating fans to an impromptu, two-song performance on the patio of a beachside seafood restaurant. “By the time she finished the first song, there must have been 50 little girls and their moms who came rushing up,” said Ray Rogers, owner of StingRay’s restaurant on Tybee Island. He caught Miley’s surprise gig on video. Rogers said the 16-year-old “Hannah Montana” star dined on snow crab legs with a friend after wrapping up Monday’s first day of filming of the Walt Disney… Read more »
The Black Eyed Peas scored their first No. 1 album on the U.S. pop charts on Wednesday, buoyed by heavy promotion for its first release in four years. The Peas also claimed the top two spots on the singles chart. The hip-hop act topped the Billboard 200 with “The E.N.D.,” which sold 304,000 copies during the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was the group’s best sales week ever. Its previous set, 2005’s “Monkey Business,” bowed at No. 2 with a then-best 291,000. Believe it or not, the Black Eyes Peas have hit the top 10 only… Read more »
Miley Cyrus is attempting to teach an adult the Hoedown Throwdown, the big dance number from “Hannah Montana: The Movie” and it’s not going well. “We did it in one day!” she gasps. “We just all kind of made it up as we went along.” It doesn’t help that Cyrus offers this consolation and advice over the phone to a journalist who’s trying to follow along on YouTube — and untangle herself from the phone cord. “Well,” Cyrus patiently explains, “you have to be semi-coordinated to do it.” This is exactly how Cyrus’ legion of preteen female fans must be… Read more »

Overall demand for music among U.S. internet users fell 2% in Q3 of 2008 according to a new NPD survey which included purchased CDs and downloads, P2P sites, and borrowing music to rip. It’s not clear if the numbers are just a blip or within some margin or error, but they certainly can’t be spun as good news for a beleagured music industry. Growth in track sales and the number of new downloaders did, however, offer a ray of hope along with music discovery via video games. The proportion of U.S. Internet users, age 13 and older, purchasing a CD… Read more »
Quiet time is a rarity for the Jonas Brothers these days. Following a special performance for more than 500 screaming tween and teen girls at Apple’s downtown Manhattan store on Tuesday night, the brothers – Kevin, 20, Joe, 18, and Nick, 15 – huddled in a stairwell, trying to find a quiet space to conduct an interview with The Associated Press. Good luck with that. Even as they spoke, their words were almost drowned out by deafening, doglike shrieks from girls still trying to find a way to get at their idols, who have set off a boy-band pop craze… Read more »
