Prince's New Royal Subject

It was better late than never for Prince. The Purple One may have showed up at emerging singer Janelle Monáe’s show last night at L.A.’s Viper Room, but he didn’t arrive until an hour after she was done. So instead of coming into the club, Prince held court in his car. Janelle joined him for a little chitchat in the backseat. Slow down with your dirty assumptions. I’ve been assured it’s completely platonic between the two… Prince appears to have taken a shine to the young, funky, Atlanta-based singer and recently reached out to her to offer career advice, according… Read more »

Spice Girls Reunion Just a Well-Seasoned Rumor?

The Spice Girls are still oceans apart when it comes to getting together. First, it was Live 8 in 2005, and this time it’s the July 1 tribute to Princess Diana that the ’90s-era British pop stars will not be performing at, sticking a fork in yet another rumor that Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Posh are ready to take the stage again. “Despite media speculation at this time, there is no confirmation of a Spice reunion,” Victoria Beckham’s rep, Cheryl Maisel, told E! News. “Victoria is moving to L.A., Emma is due to have a baby and Mel B… Read more »

Mel B welcomed her second child this week, with the healthy birth of a baby girl in Los Angeles. The as-yet-unnamed infant “is completely healthy with a good head of hair,” Brown’s spokesperson commented. “No name has been decided on as yet, and she is purely known as Baby Brown.” The former Spice Girl, who has chosen to focus on acting in recent years after her solo career flopped, faces a paternity battle with her former boyfriend, Hollywood star Eddie Murphy, after he very publicly declared the child might not be his. “Now you’re being presumptuous because we’re not together… Read more »

Avril, Christina's Multiple Personalities

What’s up with all the different versions of Avril in her new video? Or, for that matter, Christina, Ciara and Beyoncé? Everywhere you look, it seems some pop diva has replicated herself so she’s the star of her clip several times over. Multiple versions are nothing new – Mariah and Madonna are old pros by now – but the idea has been spreading like a video virus, with Avril and others just the latest to be infected. It got us to thinking – are they copying themselves or someone else? Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” Avril Lavigne gets to have it both… Read more »
