Since GK first strutted onto the scene in 2004/2005 it has become a symbol, representing the look of pop-punk but also, unexpectedly, the sound of alt-rock. But last year, just short of a decade later, the journey derailed. Today, Glamour Kills is fighting its way back.
The Alternative Press Music Awards is making its second annual appearance this year in Cleveland on July 22nd. Nearly half an hour had passed since the opening band left the stage, and the crowd at Northern Virginia’s State Theatre was getting restless.
The personal assistant charged in the beating death of real estate agent and punk rock pioneer Linda Stein was denied bail Wednesday even though the defense argued new DNA evidence justified it. Stein’s blood was spattered around her Manhattan penthouse after she was bludgeoned to death in October, but not a drop was found on the clothes of Natavia Lowery, 26, who is charged with second-degree murder, her attorney said. Move over, Lara Croft, there’s a new digitally rendered heroine in town who’s sure to keep gamers up way past their bedtimes. No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani lends her voice to the title character in “Malice,” an action-adventure game due this fall for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, according to a spokesperson for game developer Sierra Entertainment Inc. Stefani’s bandmates, Tony Kanal (bass), Tom Dumont (guitar) and Adrian Young (drums), provide vocals for other characters in the game. Less than 24 hours after a marathon gig in New York, music stars including Michael Jackson, the Backstreet Boys, and Mariah Carey kicked off a concert in Washington to help lift the spirits of a nation’s capital rattled by the Sept. 11 attacks and anthrax.
