In a surprising move during the trio’s Detroit, MI performance last night (May 9), blink-182 played a snippet of Taylor Swift‘s 6x platinum song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” following a performance of their own hit single, “Dammit.” The unexpected mashup is quite a tongue-in-cheek moment for the group considering guitarist Tom DeLonge’s return to the band in 2022 following his initial departure in 2015. Last week, Cameron Hurley—who found fame with We Are The In Crowd in 2009 and became a staple on Warped Tour—released the first three installments to his complete cover album of blink-182’s 1997 album Dude Ranch. Under the recording name new.wav, Hurley first issued “Pathetic,” “Voyour,” and “Dammit” covers, which exude the same high energy performance level as blink-182’s 2000 live album, The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show.
