Garbage drummer Butch Vig is suffering from an acute inner ear infection that has forced him to miss his band’s last few tour dates and possibly more. His condition makes him hypersensitive to sound and noise. Matt Chamberlain has been filling in for Vig, playing a pair of shows in Los Angeles over the weekend. Chamberlain is familiar with Garbage’s material. He filled in for Vig when the Garbage skin basher came down with Hepatitis A last November and also played on several tracks on the band’s latest album, Beautifulgarbage. Collarbone, Not Spirit, Broken As Jewel Resumes Tour Early

Her collarbone may be broken, but her spirit seems barely bruised, given Jewel’s plans to resume touring earlier than expected. She’ll return to the stage Monday for shows that looked as though they wouldn’t happen after she fell from a horse on April 24, according to an Atlantic Records spokesperson. Doctors had suggested she not perform for at least a month. The singer’s first day back in the saddle, so to speak, will be May 13 in Stuttgart, Germany. Although she’s capable of singing, she won’t be able to play guitar. Only two dates of her European tour – May… Read more »

The Britney And Justin Mystery: Why They Won't Come Clean

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake love each other very much and have not broken up. At least that’s still the “official” stance a spokesperson for the couple takes when asked of the status of their relationship. And if you believe that, some might think you were born yesterday. The official media statement is in direct opposition to a month’s worth of unconfirmed reports and anonymous eyewitness accounts that say the king and queen of the teen-pop prom have ended their reign. While public opinion favors the notion that the romance is kaput – gossip columnists citing Britney shakin’ it with… Read more »

Two of the surviving members of legendary rock band Queen have teamed with actor Robert De Niro to answer the venerable questions: Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Fantasy, apparently. Britney, Justin Continue To Shoot Down Breakup Claims

The demands on their time have naturally created a significant time apart, which could be misconstrued as a more permanent situation.” Spears herself shot down the breakup rumors in an interview with MTV Italy over a week ago, but the rumor mill… Read more »

Britney Spears Denies Reports Of Split With Justin Timberlake

Seems a girl can’t have a good cry anymore without rumors running wild. While Britney Spears may have plenty to be upset about, her recent sob session with actress friend Tara Reid wasn’t due to breaking up with boyfriend and ‘NSYNC singer Justin Timberlake, because the split didn’t happen – despite widespread reports from the BBC, the New York Post and various British tabloids. Spears emphatically denied the reports to MTV Italy on Monday (March 11), saying, “No, that’s not true. Me and Justin did not split up.” The breakup rumors appear to have spread rapidly in Europe based on… Read more »

Powell's MTV Comments Aren't the Problem

Someone should give Gen. Colin Powell another bronze star. Last week the secretary of state went on MTV and committed an unabashed act of heroism. He threw himself into the debate over condom use as a way to fight AIDS – and rounds of flak have been flying at his head ever since. The hostilities began after a young woman from Italy asked him on the show what he thought about condom use in light of the AIDS epidemic. Now, anyone who has climbed as far up the ladder in Washington as Powell knows what to do in this situation:… Read more »
