Montreal Pranksters Get Britney to Duet with Tiger

Oops! Montreal’s radio pranksters did it again. Canadian comics posing as singer Celine Dion persuaded Britney Spears to sing a duet with golfer Tiger Woods called “Let’s Make a Hole in One” for a bogus charity event. Montreal comic Marc Audette, deftly imitating the voice of French-Canadian diva Dion, chatted with Spears on the telephone about each woman’s charity foundations. After a few minutes of mutual admiration, Audette got down to business and invited Spears to come to Montreal and visit “her club” – in reality, a popular Montreal strip joint. “We certainly won’t be distracted there,” Audette said. “Of… Read more »

Never Mind Britney, Aerosmith Back on the Road

After dismaying some fans by performing with pop princess Britney Spears last year, veteran rock band Aerosmith is hitting the road this week with some more appropriate musical stars in tow. The Boston-based combo, famed for a 30-year string of hits including “Dream On” and “Love in an Elevator,” will begin a three-month tour on Tuesday in New Jersey. Its support acts include rap trio Run-D.M.C., whose 1986 cover version of “Walk This Way” reinvigorated Aerosmith’s career, and Kid Rock, who inducted the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry said… Read more »

Britney Says Lightning Storm Forced Her To End Mexico Show

Take ambassador off the list of careers Britney Spears might want to pursue if she ever tires of singing. The pop star, who seems to have no problem maintaining good relations with fans at home, suffered another international incident this past week by twice angering her Mexican fans, who chanted, “Fraud!” when she cut short the final show of her world tour. It’s customary for American artists playing to international audiences – who don’t get to see certain performers as often – to go out of their way to charm fans, either by adopting local protocol, attempting the language or… Read more »

Nelly, Britney, Usher, Papa Roach Take A Beating Onstage

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, timber cutters, miners, construction workers and truck drivers face the highest risk of injury on the job. Perhaps the Labor Department would add “musical performer” to that list if it bothered to assign someone to study the goings-on at say, Ozzfest or the Anger Management Tour – or even Britney Spears’ Dream Within a Dream Tour – to take note of the amount of blood spilled and number of fingers/arms/knees/backs injured onstage. While many imagine that a music superstar’s day on the job involves such trappings as free-flowing Cristal, gold grills, hovering hotties… Read more »

Britney Has Need For Speed In Next Flick

Transcending her tumultuous teen character in “Crossroads,” a self-assured Britney Spears will live life in the fast lane for her next movie. Spears has inked a deal with NASCAR to develop and produce a feature film based on the world’s fastest sport, according to her publicist. In the film, Spears will portray the daughter of a NASCAR team owner who inspires a retired track veteran to return to the circuit. Although casting has yet to be completed, NASCAR drivers are expected to appear in the flick. James V. Hart, who has scripted the screenplays for “Contact” (1997) and “Muppets Treasure… Read more »

Guy Trades Britney Tix for Cash

A 13-year-old boy decided he’d rather have $475 in cash than see teen pop queen Britney Spears in concert. After twisting off the cap from a bottle of Pepsi, Andrew Benson discovered he had won four tickets to a Spears concert and $200 in spending money. His musical taste runs more to rap artists so the choice wasn’t too difficult. Andrew called the toll-free number on the cap and traded in the prizes for $475, which he plans to share with his nine brothers and sisters and four cousins. His mother said she will pitch in another $25, so he… Read more »

Britney Avoids Vice, Justin Talk, Anything New At Sin City Tour Opener – Review

In the city of sin, Britney Spears behaved. There was no dissing of Justin Timberlake during the opening night of the second leg of the Dream Within a Dream Tour. No cigarette smoking. No… whatever vice the rumor mills have her doing this week. Things may have changed in Britney’s well-chronicled life since the last time we saw her onstage – and that’s only if you believe the gossip – but there were no signs of it Friday at Mandalay Bay. The 20-year-old headliner was the same pop princess she was at 19. Nearly every part of Spears’ 90-minute show… Read more »

The “Boys” remix is tentatively set as the second single from the soundtrack. Beyonce Knowles’ “Work It Out” is expected to be the first single and will hit radio in early June. Knowles, of course, is Mike Myers’ co-star in the third Austin Powers flick, which hits… Read more »

Britney, Austin Powers Team Up For Video, Commercial

Austin Powers will appear in Britney Spears’ video for “Boys,” the Neptunes-produced next single from Britney (2001) and the first release from the “Austin Powers in Goldmember” soundtrack. Spears and Mike Myers, the man behind the international man of mystery, are filming the clip in a Hollywood mansion Tuesday (May 14) and Wednesday, according to Spears’ Jive Records spokesperson. The duo also recently crossed roads (pun intended) at a Pepsi commercial shoot in Los Angeles that will tie into the third Austin Powers flick, due in theaters July 26. Although it is Destiny’s Child star Beyoncé Knowles who co-stars in… Read more »
