Leave it to Kanye West to make headlines in the most unusual way — and he did, as he hijacked Taylor Swift’s speech at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Swift was in mid-acceptance speech for Best Female Video when West rushed onstage, grabbed her microphone and went on an outburst on behalf of Beyonce Knowles, who had lost out in that category. Nickelback cleans up at MMVAs


Alberta rockers Nickelback may have picked up a leading three trophies at the MuchMusic Video Awards last night, giving music critics across the country another reason to groan, but in the end it was all about Lady Gaga’s “flaming boobies.” The critically unpopular group, who picked up three Juno Awards back in March, went into the televised street-oriented awards show – which saw thousands of fans take over the blocks surrounding MuchMusic’s Toronto Queen and John Sts. headquarters – with a leading five MMVA nods, tied with R&B Toronto newcomer Danny Fernandes. Black Eyed Peas dominate U.S. charts


The Black Eyed Peas scored their first No. 1 album on the U.S. pop charts on Wednesday, buoyed by heavy promotion for its first release in four years. The Peas also claimed the top two spots on the singles chart. The hip-hop act topped the Billboard 200 with “The E.N.D.,” which sold 304,000 copies during the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was the group’s best sales week ever. Blink-182 announces summer tour dates


After reuniting for its first show in more than four years, Blink-182 has announced its summer tour dates. The band’s official return comes when they play the The Late Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday, May 21st. Blink will be joined by Fall Out Boy on the road for two-thirds of their reunion jaunt, with Weezer picking up the remaining dates. Last Thursday evening, Blink-182 closed out their set with 2003’s “The Feeling” and Dude Ranch’s “Dammit.” Bassist Mark Hoppus was overjoyed following the performance, a hugely significant event for the band whose members had spent the last four years… Read more »

Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas headline Zootopia 2009


EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Fans of all stripes crowded the Izod Center Saturday, May 16th, to hear a night filled with music from pop artists Kelly Clarkson, Ciara, Jesse McCartney and the Black Eyed Peas to rock from the All American Rejects, and hip-hop from Soulja Boy Tell’Em and The All American Rejects. He had one of the biggest opening sales weeks of 2008, and now, Lil Wayne is the year’s most-nominated Grammy contender. Wayne and his latest LP, “Tha Carter III,” lead the pack with a total of eight nominations, while one of the year’s other biggest sellers, Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends,” garnered seven nods.
