Disturbed Audition Bassists, Find 100 Reasons To Rage

In mid-December, Disturbed announced that original bassist Fuzz had left the band after more than six years, and posted a message on their Web site telling musicians how to apply for the vacant slot. Frontman David Draiman is currently narrowing down the field of interested players and plans to bring four to six of them to Chicago in February for tryouts. Fuzz’s departure from Disturbed was a long time coming, according to Draiman. “I don’t want to drag anyone through the mud, there were just personality conflicts,” Draiman explained, breaking over a month of silence. “It wasn’t a relationship that… Read more »

After a highly publicized failed attempt last year, ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass still hopes to go into space one day. And if a group of Houston middle school students has any say, Bass will do it in “Lance’s Lab” while eating chicken strips with salsa, wearing stylish pants and T-shirts and listening to and recording music to fight motion sickness. On Wednesday, Bass visited Ortiz Middle School as part of World Space Week, which commemorates the Oct. 4, 1957, launch of Sputnik 1, the first human-made satellite, and the Oct. 10, 1967, signing of a treaty that governs exploration… Read more »

Nirvana Bassist To Rock No More

Nirvana co-founder Krist Novoselic is packing up his instrument following the universal apathy displayed for Eyes Adrift, the alt-country band he formed in late 2001 with Meat Puppets guitarist Curt Kirkwood and Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh. “I quit,” he wrote in a post on the band’s official Web site. “I can’t deal. I can’t read the magazines, listen to the radio or watch music television without feeling like I’ve just come in from outer space. I just don’t get it and I probably never did.” Novoselic’s frustrations stem from being typecast as a hard rock performer, and from the recent… Read more »

Say what you want about Lance Bass. Just don’t say he’s dead. Bass says rumors about who he’s dating or what drugs he’s taking are bad enough, but ones that say he died in a plane crash are the worst. The ‘N Sync member, who has recently guested on shows like “Hollywood Squares” and “America’s Most Talented Kid,” says he knew when he… Read more »
