Led Zeppelin Allows Song To Be Used In 'School Of Rock'

Led Zeppelin has agreed to let one of their songs be used in the soundtrack for the upcoming film School Of Rock-but only because its star, Jack Black, asked personally. According to the studio, Black-who makes music with the comical rock act Tenacious D-stepped in after School Of Rock director Richard Linklater was unable to get permission to use “Immigrant Song.” Black reportedly sent a humorous videotaped request for the song to the three surviving members of Led Zeppelin, who subsequently gave their approval. The School Of Rock soundtrack comes out September 30, while the film opens October 3. Led… Read more »

Sevendust Rip Into Ex-Coal Chamber Frontman On 'Enemy'

For their current single, “Enemy,” Sevendust have taken a couple of cues from hip-hop. They’ve half-rapped the verse, and they’ve put their beef with another musician on wax. The song is a diatribe directed toward ex-Coal Chamber frontman Dez Fafara, who is currently in the band Devildriver. “Enemy” was written and largely sung by drummer Morgan Rose, whose wife is former Coal Chamber bassist Rayna Foss-Rose. The song, a full-on character assassination with a bruising verse and huge, melodic chorus, features such lines as, “Look at your face, look at your name/ Funny you’re a loser with only yourself to… Read more »

Fred Durst Talks More Trash About Britney, Borland

Despite an apparent cease-fire to the mudslinging between Fred Durst and Britney Spears, the Limp Bizkit frontman just can’t seem to say enough about the sexy singer. Onstage Saturday at a free concert in London’s Finsbury Park, Durst introduced the tune “Break Stuff” by taking a swipe at the pop star. At the opening of the Significant Other single with the prophetic line, “It’s all about the he said, she said bullsh-,” Durst made his proclamation. “How many people out there have had one of those f–ed-up days?” he asked the crowd. “I can remember quite a few f–ed-up days… Read more »

Britney Talks New Album But Remains Coy On First Single

Britney Spears debuted the first full song off her upcoming record Thursday on ABC’s “NFL Kickoff Live,” but despite the primetime unveiling, “Me Against the Music” isn’t necessarily going to be the new disc’s first single. Wearing a cropped referee’s shirt, Spears performed a medley of “… Baby One More Time” and “I’m a Slave 4 U” after finishing the RedZone-produced dance tune, which features a near rap and tribal rhythms. “Dance all night,” she exhorts on the song, demanding that “All the people in the crowd, grab a partner, take it down/ All my people in the crowd, let… Read more »

Dashboard Confessional No Longer Looked At Like Chicken Sacrificers – Review

Don’t cry for Chris Carrabba – sure, the Dashboard Confessional singer may have suffered a broken heart (or two), but post-punk’s sensitive poster boy is clearly on the mend and ready for bigger action. Where he might have once shied away from singing some of his vocals out of stage fright, he now lets the crowd take over – as he did Thursday at his Roseland Ballroom tour stop – as part of a coy quid pro quo. Carrabba spent just as much time in front of the mic as away from it. “Get it out of your system,” he… Read more »

Dave Navarro Seeking Out Madonna

Dave Navarro performed at last week’s MTV Video Music Awards with Christina Aguilera and was there in person to witness Madonna’s smooches with Aguilera and Britney Spears. Although he has worked with his fair share of hot female pop stars, he is currently eyeing his next gal. “At this point I’d like to do a collaboration with Madonna,” Navarro said. “I think that would be exciting. So far I’ve been able to collaborate with Christina Aguilera and Michelle Branch and Mariah Carey. I think Madonna’s, you know, next on my list. And Madonna actually looks younger than Britney and Christina.… Read more »
