Tuesday Ten: Bands We Wish Would Reunite

2013 was the year of the reunion, with everyone from Fall Out Boy to Knapsack teaming back up with their old bandmates, whether it was for a one-off anniversary tour or a full-blown comeback. Still, even with all of those reunions, there are still a handful of bands left who we wish would bless us with one last tour or some new music. Here are the top ten bands we wish we could see a reunion from – no matter how impossible our dreams may be.

Aerosmith Steven Tyler grants dying man’s wish

The colors were a bit faded, but the design of Lawrence Ori’s only tattoo was still visible. He couldn’t raise his arm proudly to show you anymore, but you could still see the Aerosmith logo there on his bicep.

It’s not just the tattoo. Aerosmith weaved its way through Ori’s life in both obvious and subtle ways. His license plate read “ROCKN” and his cell phone played the band’s classic “Dream On”.

Paramore set to become southern royalty

Hayley Williams owns a car, though she prefers to ride her bike. If you live in Franklin, Tennessee, you probably know this by now, because she pilots the thing – a beige, kid-size rattletrap with a basket on the front – all around her hometown, chatting up the locals and stopping in at places like Puckett’s Grocery and the Ivey Cake bakery. She paid $60 for it at a nearby thrift store. It’s probably worth $30. Williams also owns a house in town, and though it’s certainly worth more than her bike, it’s not much flashier: a modest stone number… Read more »

How Jackson's "Thriller" changed the music business

In early 1984, when Epic Records executives presented their slate of upcoming releases at the convention in Hawaii of parent company CBS Records they couldn’t resist playing up the success they were experiencing. So between the pitches for new albums, Epic inserted stock footage of semi trucks and a voice-over that thunderously announced, “There goes another load of Michael Jackson’s Thriller albums!” Trucks weren’t really leaving the warehouse every few minutes, but Thriller was still shattering expectations more than a year after its November 30, 1982, release. Epic was selling more than 1 million copies per month in the United… Read more »

No bail in slaying of punk rock pioneer

The personal assistant charged in the beating death of real estate agent and punk rock pioneer Linda Stein was denied bail Wednesday even though the defense argued new DNA evidence justified it. Stein’s blood was spattered around her Manhattan penthouse after she was bludgeoned to death in October, but not a drop was found on the clothes of Natavia Lowery, 26, who is charged with second-degree murder, her attorney said. Male DNA also was mingled with Stein’s blood in a bathroom sink – suggesting her killer was a man, not the female assistant, Ronald Kuby argued while about 100 people… Read more »

A judge says she is troubled that rapper Ja Rule has posted thousands of dollars in bonds for two co-defendants in a gun possession case and she wants them to come up with their own bail packages. State Supreme Court Justice Micki Scherer expressed her concern Wednesday at the indictment arraignment of Ja Rule, Dennis Cherry and Mohamed Gamal on gun possession charges. All pleaded not guilty. The judge said the Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, “has put himself in the position of perhaps controlling the outcome of the case. I think the potential for it is… Read more »
