Following the release of fall 2024 singles “lucky” and “Kiss My (Ah),” Zoe Ko is sprinting into the new year with a cheeky new track, “drop the man.”
She explains how an all-too-relatable scenario inspired the song. “‘drop the man’ came to be because of my two best friends who were on a streak of having terrible taste in men,” Ko says.
She adds, “It was basically a whole year of seeing another lame dude come in and out of their life and leave each time with a little piece of their heart. And I was not having it. The song is super simple in the fact that I love my best friends, and I know and they know what kind of partner they deserve.”
The punchy pop track offers nostalgia-inducing high-energy sonics akin to ’00s Gwen Stefani, and it is exactly what modern pop-rock needs right now. Ko is a champion of her besties with blunt lyrics such as, “Go be a hot bitch/Fight for some good dick/I love you but you don’t see you’ve got to/Drop the man.”
Check out the track below.
While she is excited to share her new song, Ko took to Instagram to share how heartbroken she is to see her home of LA in its current state. She says, “I’ve only been in LA for about a year but I’ve fallen in love with this city and its ppl. It’s heartbreaking to see ppl I know and love go through this right now. I’m thankful to be safe and so loved.”
Ko adds, “p.s. drop the men who aren’t as incredible and selfless as these fire fighters saving LA rn !!!”
