The Paradox Kick Off When We Were Young with Green Day Cover

After forming in June 2024—yes, just a few months ago—The Paradox made their When We Were Young Fest debut with the very first set of the day. The four-piece pop-punk outfit, comprised of Eric Dangerfield on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Rayman on bass, Xelan on lead guitar and backing vocals, and PC3 on drums, was a last-minute addition to the festival lineup after several artists, including The All-American Rejects and The Distillers, were forced to cancel their appearances. Despite being newcomers to the scene, The Paradox seized the opportunity, delivering an electrifying performance that set the perfect tone for fans entering the festival grounds.

Though they only have one original track, “Imani,” in their discography, The Paradox has already built a dedicated following, particularly on TikTok, where their covers of pop-punk staples from bands like Green Day (who they opened for in Atlanta, GA), Simple Plan, and Sum 41 have garnered massive attention. Kicking off the festival with a setlist packed with pop-punk anthems, The Paradox created a perfect sing-along atmosphere, bringing together nostalgia and new energy.

Check out The Paradox performing Green Day’s “2000 Light Years Away” below.
