The All-American Rejects got into the Halloween spirit this weekend at Jake Webber‘s Los Angeles house party as they played a surprise set. And many other cool guests were in attendance, including Johnnie Guilbert and Tara Yummy. Of course, the act traded out their typical rockstar get-up for some band-themed baseball player costumes.
Here, the act played “Dirty Little Secret,” “Swing, Swing,” “Flagpole Sitta,” “I Wanna,” “Move Along,” and “Gives You Hell” according to TikTok user @concertkate. Check out snippets from their house party set below.
Lead vocalist Tyson Ritter took to socials to share how much playing this unique party venue meant to him. He shared, “Sometimes I forget why I do what I do. It’s not lost on me that I’m beyond lucky to have made playing music my way of making a living, but as with anything in life you can become complacent in some routine. Thinking about it now, these songs are the only thing that I know by heart. That turn of phrase is pretty special and telling isn’t it? ‘By heart,’ that place where something becomes so concrete that it leaves your mind and travels to a deeper within only reserved for your dearest loved ones and dreamiest dreams.”

Ritter continues, “I had the great privilege to play Peter Pan this weekend for a crowd of people that didn’t know we were going to take them to Never Never Land for a quick 35-minute flight. Coincidentally our stage was a garage, which is where every band starting out begs their parents to tolerate- where I started some 20+ years ago.”
Finally, he says, “I didn’t have any expectation really as to how the performance would be, I knew we’d show up and we’d make a good time happen, but I didn’t expect it to actually leave me with this lingering overwhelming gratitude as it has. It’s not lost on me that music has power, but I guess sometimes the redundancy of doing anything you know by heart can turn you into the captain of a plane; it’s easy to let the auto-pilot take over. I want to thank that crowd of misfits who welcomed me into their space Saturday, who put that captain into a much-needed tail spin. the pure joy and abandon we cultivated together reminded me of a time and place where I found my purpose in life; bringing people together for the sake of ringing out the living of it.”
