If you’ve grown bored of swiping through tiny hat skateboarders and drama queens who just want free dinner, Tinder has come up with another way to keep you interested, if not in your matches than at least in the app. Starting October 6, Tinder launches a 4-part weekly series called Swipe Night. It’s a Bandersnatch-esque choose your own adventure that users engage with through the Tinder platform. The five-minute episodes center around 4 friends, Graham (Jordan Christian Hearn), Lucy (Angela Wong Carbone), and Molly (Shea Gabor), with the user in the starring role of the fourth friend. The micro-series is directed by Karena Evans (Drake’s videos: God’s Plan & In My Feelings) and written by Nicole Delaney (Big Mouth) and Brandon Zuck (Five Points). Swipers will only have 7 seconds to make their decisions, which can’t be changed, that will then determine the story and new matches. If you and someone in your desired search criteria both make the same choice you could be matched. It’s an inventive way to refresh interest in the hook-up app while also delivering a small burst of creative entertainment. Calling it F*ckboi Bandersnatch isn’t to harsh the art. There’s always room for new ideas on engaging entertainment –guess I have to make a Tinder profile now.
