Everyone…stay calm! My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way seems to be gearing up to release a new music project: The Mock-Ups.

On September 12, Instagram account @gauzyrecords, a boutique record label in Los Angeles and Arizona, revealed Way as the vocalist and bassist for the forthcoming project in a caption. And that’s not all…The Mock-Ups also feature The InterruptersAimee Allen on backing vocals and Jesse Bivona on drums. Additionally, The Interrupters’ Kevin Bivona worked on keys and production for The Mock-Ups. Plus, Michael Schulz, Head of Signature Artists at Fender, is on guitar. What a lineup!

Notably, the post revealed that the prolific late Doug McKean served as the recording engineer. McKean, who passed away in 2022, boasts a dazzling resume, including work with My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Paramore, and more. Overall, it’s likely that The Mock-Ups have been working behind the scenes for years, waiting for the right time to release their song, “I Wanna Know Your Name.”

Now, Gauzy Records has not revealed an exact release date, insisting that it’s “coming soon.” The post includes a photo of handwritten lyrics that say, “I just wanna know your name/You take the body and I’ll take the blame/Cuz now I’m gonna say it plain/I wanna know your name.”

Check out the instrumental snippet of the glowing rock song below, featuring a hint of Way’s vocals.
