We know you shouldn’t spread rumors…but what if the rumor is actually really great? The internet has blown up over word that Donald Glover will possibly reprise his role as Lando Calrissian for a new Disney+ series.
The unofficial announcement was made on the podcast Kessel Run Transmissions. We’re hesitant to get too excited about an announcement made from a source that isn’t directly involved with the Star Wars franchise. But it should be noted that this same team let fans know about The Bad Batch before Lucasfilm made the announcement themselves.
Glover was first seen as Calrissian in the 2018 movie Solo. We aren’t going to sugar coat it: The film wasn’t the most well received. Fans had high hopes for the Han Solo origin story but most felt like it fell short. However, as with everything he does, Donald Glover stood out.
It would make sense for Disney to want to expand on his role as Lando and fans are chomping at the bit to see what they would do with his character. But a possible issue with this scheduling could be how high in demand Glover is at pretty much any given moment. He released an album in March under his moniker Childish Gambino AND we know we’ll have more of Atlanta to look forward to when production starts up again.
If the rumor does turn out to be true, we’ll be hyped. Donald Glover crushes any project he’s a part of and our inner geek could always use some more Star Wars. I guess we will have to wait for that official announcement!
