If you’ve missed certified scream queen Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers, aka Buffy The Vampire Slayer, ever since the show’s 2003 conclusion—good news is coming your way.
Per Deadline, a Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot series is close to getting a pilot order from Hulu, and yes Michelle Gellar is set to reprise her leading role.
According to the report, Chloé Zhao, the Oscar-winning and history-making director of Nomadland will direct the series pilot. Plus, sister writing team Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, whose credits include Poker Face, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., and more, will be penning the series.

Currently, it’s not confirmed if fellow Buffy The Vampire Slayer stars such as Nicholas Brendon who portrayed Xander Harris, or Alyson Hannigan who played Willow Rosenberg will appear in the new series.
However, Deadline did confirm that original show creator Joss Whedon, who has many abuse allegations, will not be involved in the reboot in any capacity.
Previously, the Buffy The Vampire Slayer cast had an official reunion in 2017 via Entertainment Weekly. Then, in 2023, a handful of members of the original cast came together for an Audible audio original called Slayers: A Buffyverse Story.
