After serving as the band’s drummer for a mere three years, Atom Willard is officially saying goodbye to Alkaline Trio. He shared his departure via social media.
He says in a statement, “With everything going on, going wrong, in the world right now, this may seem insignificant, but it’s not for me. I have parted ways with Alkaline Trio. Thanks to everyone who made my time there so awesome, very thankful for the experience.”
He adds, “I am currently considering all studio, collaboration, and touring opportunities. I hope we can all look to love, compassion, understanding, and acceptance of our fellow humans in these dark and scary times.”
Willard originally joined Alkaline Trio in June of 2023 after long-time drummer Derek Grant took his leave. Additionally, Willard has a stacked resume, previously working with the likes of The Offspring, Angels & Airwaves, Against Me!, and more. We look forward to seeing what he does next.
Alkaline Trio has scheduled upcoming summer music festivals. A replacement drummer has not yet been announced. Check out their upcoming tour dates below.
Tour Dates:
- June 25-27 — Ysselsteyn, Netherlands @ Jera On Air 2026
