After teasing his new single earlier in June, YUNGBLUD officially released his track with a corresponding “breakdown.” music video. Filmed in coastal England near the Seven Sisters cliff, the video concept is “really simple,” he shares. It’s “really representative of what’s going on in my life right now,” YUNGBLUD said in a pre-premiere livestream.
The artist shared on social media, “Cortisol, often called the ‘stress hormone,’ is higher during the first hour after waking for people experiencing stress so gettin’ out of bed in a morning can sometimes be really hard. You can wake up in the morning with a knot in your stomach without knowing why it’s there. It used to freak me out so much and make me feel so isolated until [I] realised that it is completely normal.”
On Twitter/X, he explains, “I wrote this song as a mechanism to combat the fear, take me out of my head and help me face my day. I took it to the studio and it turned into this. Life can get so lonely, life can get so scary. But remember [I] am with you all you gotta do is put on your headphones. The right people in your life will stick around to figure out with you.”

In his new video, YUNBGLUD is seen running through the coastal terrain. Suddenly, he meets an older woman who invites him in for some tea. The artist, clearly distressed, hears words of wisdom from the kind stranger. “The universe is very, very big, and we are so very, very small. It used to terrify me until I realized something,” she says. “You see, we are the only thing that gives meaning to the cosmos. We decide what matters.” Check out the new music video for “breakdown.” below.
The artist adds, “Don’t look backwards you’re not going that way. The pain you may be feeling will hurt until it’s taught you enough lessons – actively try to go out and notice the world around you, the things and people. Connect with them. Don’t let the bullshit inside your head consume you. It just wastes precious time and life potential. You can do it. Don’t forget to put your feet in the grass.”
