The last few years have been absolutely exceptional for Architects. Taking the step up from being one of modern metalcore’s most celebrated bands to being a total metal behemoth in their own right, off the back of 2021’s For Those That Wish To Exist and 2022’s the classic symptoms of a broken spirit, the band have never looked so unstoppable.
And you only have to look at the footage they have just uploaded, taken from their sold-out show at London’s Alexandra Palace last year, just to see how they have cemented their place at the very top. That footage is of their curtain-closing track, “Animals”, the crushing industrial banger that kickstarted the FTTWTE era and a top 10 track on US Active Rock Radio. A gargantuan song on record alone, but when Architects perform it live, it takes on a whole new level of bludgeoning. And when that brutality is being delivered in front of 10,000 rampant fans, it feels all the more powerful with singalongs, crowd-surfers, and moshpit swells aplenty. Such a perfect storm of emotion and electricity makes for a moment that will live long in history for all those there, and a spine-tingling watch for those able who wished they were now.
So sit back, relax and enjoy. It is an absolute spectacle:
