The Used Drop Animated Music Video For “Giving Up”

In support of their new record, Toxic Positivity, The Used has released a dynamic new music video for their single, “Giving Up.” But this video is unlike your standard piece of band content. Giving fans something new and exciting to pair with the track, The Used’s latest video is animated, incorporating eclectic visuals and abstract graphics that align with the band’s release campaign.

If you can imagine it, it is likely in this new music video. Skulls falling from the sky, plants with faces, and submarines flying through space do not begin to describe the quirky chaos that happens throughout the entire video. Fans can see each member of The Used living in this surreal world and trying to find a way out of the madness. At the end of the video, there are many easter eggs associated with the band floating through the galaxy including roses and skeletons from the Toxic Positivity cover art, and the iconic heart from their 2004 album, In Love And Death

With art direction by Løpz and G. Queiroz and directed by Gabriel Russo, the band shared their excitement for the release in an Instagram post.

“We are really happy with the art @runzebra.run created for our “Giving Up” music video. It’s very original and different for The Used, but still feels very on point for us. Enjoy the ride. 💚”

As the second single off of their new record, “Giving Up” is emotionally intense, carrying with it the nostalgia and raw emotion of classics such as “The Taste of Ink” and “The Bird And The Worm.” Yet, there is a modernness in vocalist Bert McCracken’s delivery and lyrics that prove why they remain a powerful legacy band in the scene. Their ninth album, released via Big Noise, highlights their maturity and passion for writing music that tugs on the heartstrings.

“I hope they see the honesty, the possibilities,” Bert says. “Emo has come and gone as a phrase that people hated and now it’s a phrase they love. Because we love honest and emotional music.”

Now, on the road with Pierce The Veil, the band is having a killer summer. Watch the video below and let us know what you think!
