Our favorite Arizona band, The Maine have shared an incredible cover of “Cruel Summer” from Taylor Swift’s Lover album. The cover starts with soft, roomy guitars before pushing forward into a synth-driven chorus. John O’Callaghans vocals are somber and beautiful as always. This is a cover we never knew we needed, but are so grateful for. The Maine have also recently announced that they will be re-recording their sophomore album, Black & White. In true Taylor Swift inspired fashion, they are doing this in order to re-claim the record, as it was their only major label release.
The Maine’s vocalist John O’Callaghan shares, “We couldn’t get tickets for Taylor Swift’s tour, so we decided to cover “Cruel Summer” so we can have our own concert on the tour bus. Now we just need to make some bootleg t-shirts and it’ll be like we’re front row. Hope you enjoy it!”

Earlier this year, the group have announced the release of their ninth studio album, Self-Titled, dropping on 8.1.23. Long-time fans of the band know the significance of this date and can appreciate the brilliantly clever ode the beautiful space The Maine has created over the years. They have shared two brand new tracks with the announcement of their new album. “blame” and “how to exit a room” are the perfect double-single combination. They are different enough, standing strong as individual tracks. However, they compliment each other in a way that feels like we couldn’t have gotten one without the other. The band also released two lyric videos with the songs, both equally as amazing.
