Iconic folk rock band, The Front Bottoms have finally gifted fans with their sixth full-length album You Are Who You Hang Out With today. A band that has always put real life experiences into their everso literal lyricism and funky production, they have unique way of crafting songs that make you feel nostalgic for an experience you may have never even had in your own life. They have the ability to transport their listeners into a universe that lives inside the mind of Brian Sella, inviting everyone to that bizarre and beautiful place. You Are Who You Hang Out With gives every bit of that sentiment.
“Oh yeah, it had to be fun for us. Also, we said numerous times that we needed to make it sound like The Front Bottoms.” To hear Sella tell it, things had to feel comfortable for he and his partner Mat Uychich. The Front Bottoms have never even the band to take things too seriously That’s one of the things that make them special. “So we had to keep it natural. Don’t force anything and just let the songs develop the way they develop. That’s just the way it’s meant to be.”
The band lead up to You Are Who You Hang Out With with a few incredible singles. These included “Punching Bag“, “Outlook“, and “Emotional“. However, the rest of the tracks in the album as a whole are just as strong, if not better. They saved the really incredible moments to experienced within the first listen of the album. With stand out tracks like “Brick” and “Not Joking” the record is everything we have come to love about The Front Bottoms.
