The Dirty Nil have announced the details of their new album, the follow-up to 2021’s excellent Fuck Art. It’s going to be called Free Rein To Passions and will be dropping on May 26 via Dine Alone Records.
Frotman Luke Bentham had this to say about the album:
“Fuck Art had a lot of singing on it. There were not a lot of parts where you could just jam out on riffs. “Free Rein to Passions is a bit of a nastier record where we didn’t sweat the small insignificant details. If it sounded cool, we went with it.”
The artwork looks like this:
And the tracklisting like this:
01. “Celebration”
02. “Nicer Guy”
03. “Undefeated”
04. “Atomize Me”
05. “Land Of Clover”
06. “Blowing Up Things In The Woods”
07. “Stupid Jobs”
08. “1990”
09. “Free Rein to Passion”
10. “The Light The Void and Everything”
There’s a new song for you to listen to as well. That’s “Nicer Guy”, a raw, rip-roaring, really motivational piece of rock and roll genius.
Luke had this to say about where the track came from:
“I‘d been sitting on some of the guitar parts for a long time, husbanding them for a suitably righteous song. In the depths of lockdown, I dusted them off and came up with the words. It was a happy day in an otherwise lonely time. Special shoutout to Kyle’s extremely tight playing and Sam’s stampeding elephant bass. Sincerity can feel uncomfortable, but this one feels right.”
