Rain City Drive Reimagines Their Song “Frozen”

Rain City Drive has reimagined their latest single, “Frozen,” via Thriller Records. The alt-hardcore act originally released the single in September but has given it an almost holiday-edge decoration to it. The first version was featured on Apple Music’s Breaking Hard Rock playlist.

Reworking songs isn’t new; however, the band incorporated post-hardcore sounds with poppy beats and melodies in “Frozen (Reimagined)” while sprinkling in some holiday belles, which helps in slowing down the quicker pacing of the original. With softer vocals as well, the song sounds like it could be in an alt-rock version of a Hallmark or Lifetime holiday movie about a big city rocker going to their small town for the season and falling in love with a local business owner and settling down. It would play as snow falls around a gazebo in the local park around the non-traditional couple, and that’s an energy that isn’t heard too often with some revitalized tracks.

The five-piece keep to their roots in post-hardcore in the earlier version of the single while mixing contemporary pop. With a catchy chorus that encompasses the emotion of questioning and yearning for a potential suitor, “Feels like I’m frozen/Stuck in my mind/Falling with the motions/Blurring the lines,” both styles create a type of passion that could be more wholesome or sensual.
