Point North has announced that their second full-length album, Prepare For Despair, is dropping on August 18 via Hopeless Records. Marking three years since the release of their debut record, Brand New Vision, the California-based trio is back with a fresh collection of songs that takes listeners on a journey into the apocalypse.
The band shared the news on Instagram by posting the record’s cover art. The artwork depicts a city crumbling into shambles amidst an attack of burning buildings, alien invasions, plane crashes, and so much more. The juxtaposition of the catastrophic scene and the art’s bright palette reveals to fans that this will be a dynamic record.

Giving listeners a sneak peek of what to expect, the band dropped their new single, “Someone You Don’t Know.” The track is theatrical, building up into an arrangement reminiscent of bands like Set It Off and Fall Out Boy. Intertwining distorted guitars, a booming bass tone, and Jon Lundin’s smooth vocals, the track is split between two worlds: a world of peace and one of absolute mayhem. Yet these key changes highlight the duality of life in uncertain times.
Produced by Kyle Black (State Champs, Games We Play) and Jon Lundin, there is a sonic maturity in this new track that is exciting to hear. Point North drummer, Sage Weeber, reflects on the album-creation process on his Instagram story.
“The journey the three of us have been on since album one has been nothing short of chaotic, heartbreaking, a blessing, and so much more,” he says. “We really put everything into this album and so much more. I hope you enjoy it.”
The band also dropped limited edition vinyl and merch to celebrate the release. Fans can preorder their pink and purple swirl variation and a new T-shirt design on their website.
