Paris Jackson is finding her true sound within the alternative rock music world. She is back with another attitude-fueled single, “hit your knees“. While all of her music in the last year has been created to showcase her remarkable abilities, this track in particular, is extremely special. Paris Jackson chose to work with an exclusively women-led team on the writing and production of this song. She partnered with co-writer and producer Linda Perry, the front woman of the legendary 90’s rock band, 4 non-blondes. She also brought in Alisha Ballard, of EqualizeHer. EqualizeHer is an organization that works to solve gender inequality in the music industry by taking action to create more opportunities for women. The organization was founded to take aggressive action. They help solve for the underrepresentation of women in the music business and the problems women face in the industry every day.

Written, performed, produced, mixed, and mastered entirely by women, “hit your knees” amplifies EqualizeHer’s mission and aims to challenge other artists to support female creatives through collaboration. It proves that men are not needed to make a good song. In fact, men aren’t needed to create anything at all in the music industry, or just in general. Women are badass. Originally releasing more pop-centric tunes, Jackson first dipped her toes into the alternative scene with the Butch Walker produced single, “lighthouse” last year. Since then, she has given fans several rock tracks including “just you” and “bandaid“. It is undeniable that her voice was built for indie rock. It is absolutely fascinating to see someone whose father is iconically deemed the “Kind Of Pop” delving into an underground, grungy form of music. We love it and are totally obsessed.
