Neck Deep have announced that they will be kicking off 2024 with the release of their new Self-Titled album. Ever since their experimental and expansive project, All Distortions Are Intentional, back in 2020, the band have been shapeshifting once more. Revisiting the things that made them who they are and seeing how they reflect in the people they are now. It has been a thoughtful period. From celebrating the decade anniversary of their debut EP Rain In July to releasing the chaotic “STFU“, they have produced some incredible moments for themselves. It’s clear now it has all been leading towards this.
Neck Deep will be released on January 19 via Hopeless Records. The record will feature two singles that have already been released. They are the insanely catchy “Heartbreak Of The Century” and the intergalactic “Take Me With You“. The rest of the tracklisting feels like it is going to embody the attitude of the band wonderfully. There’s opening track “Dumbstruck Dumbf**k”, the blunt “Go Outside!” And the excellent descriptive “Moody Weirdo”. Letting everything hang out even leans into the artwork, which is loud and cartoonish. Showing off the band surrounded by various characters, animals and creatures, it is pure chaos.

Vocalist Ben Barlow had this to say about the album and what it represents for the band at this time:
“This album is the sound of us knowing ourselves and knowing our ability. It’s unapologetically us. We’re professional songwriters now, and we’ve really honed in on what we’re good at – but it’s also about having fun and enjoying writing these tracks. And there are those little sonic signatures in the mix that even I can’t really put my finger on that just make it Neck Deep. It happens when we get in a room together, and it clicks – it’s us just doing our thing like we always have.”
The album will also feature the newly released single “It Won’t Be Like This Forever“. A soft and cutesy love song on the surface, the more you dig, the more you see it is a sentiment to live by. It shows how Neck Deep have the ability to mould into whatever they want to and come out the other end with something poignant and powerful.
