Killjoys, make some noise! Action figures of the Danger Days era of My Chemical Romance are out via BrooklynVegan, in partnership with ReAction Figures. The release features the band’s personas in the concept universe: Gerard Way as “Party Poison,” Ray Toro as “Jet Star,” Mikey Way as “Kobra Kid,” and Frank Iero as “Fun Ghoul.” Each comes with a matching ray gun and is sold individually or as a four-pack with prices ranging from $20-$75.
The 2010 LP was the act’s final, original full-length album before they disbanded in 2013. The apocalyptic poppy-punk sound was a major departure from the darker, grittiness of The Black Parade. “Na Na Na” was the lead track off of Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killyjoys. The track was a bright, flashy yet, loud and rambunctious anthem for fans to usher in this new phase of MCR. To accompany the story, vocalist Gerard Way teamed up with illustrator Becky Cloonan and Shaun Simon to release a companion graphic novel of the same title. It visually detailed the adventures of the Killjoys and The Girl, the main characters from the album.
In 2021, a new tale was released by Gerard Way in the same world their characters operate in. The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem pivots away from the original album concept to create a fresh storyline. They still illustrate the constraints of a status quo society. New personalities in this story include Mike Milligram, who was de-programmed and begins on a journey to take down the evil Better Living Industries.
