Matchbox Twenty Release First Album In 10 Years

Matchbox Twenty released their brand new album, Where The Light Goes this past Friday, May 26th via Atlantic Records. This is the fifth studio album by the group, and their first effort in over ten years. The band’s last release was North in 2012 but if you grew up in the early 2000’s, Matchbox Twenty owned radio play. With extremely successful tunes like “3AM“, “Unwell“, “Push” and “How Far We’ve Come“, the group is definitely a household name.

Rob Thomas shared that the band didn’t want to force anything with this album. The album’s leading single, “Wild Dogs (Running in a Slow Dream) specifically came easy to the band. Rob Thomas spoke on the track saying: “There was a vitality to that track – a drive, a visceral feeling, that if we spent too much time polishing and re-polishing, it was gonna go away. Gregg was very careful to be like, ‘We’re gonna get in, and once we get it, I want you to get out. Capture it, then step away from it. Don’t just keep adding to add.’”
