Machine Gun Kelly has spent the last few years experimenting in different musical waters. From Tickets To My Downfall to Mainsteam Sellout, he has dipped his toes into pop-punk, rap-rock and straight-up pop and came out the other end with a whole new community of fans. But it was never to be a permanent sound change, as his new track demonstrates.
That track is ‘PRESSURE”, and it takes things back to raw and real rap. Speaking about his upbringing, his emotional turmoil, and the things has had to face to reach where he is, it’s an honest look inside of his head. But then that doesn’t stop there from being some hard-as-nails bars that express his success as well. You need pressure to make diamonds, and Machine Gun Kelly is more aware of that than anybody. With a woozy beat and a confident strut, it’s a return to the roots in a big way.
Is there a new album on the way? Most probably. Is it going to be full of more surprises than you count on your fingers? You bet. And will is be Machine Gun Kelly through and through. Absolutely.
