LØLØ has been on a hot streak in 2023, sharing six new singles, including her collaboration, “5,6,7,8,”  with the Travis Mills-led and new Verswire signee, girlfriends. Beyond the mountains of new music issued this year, LØLØ has demonstrated her prowess as a live performer, reaching new heights as direct support on the Boys Like GirlsSpeaking Our Language Tour and Against The Current‘s Nightmares & Daydreams World Tour.

As LØLØ continues to carve her path in the music industry and the anticipation of her debut album via Hopeless Records grows, 2023 has been a landmark year for the rising alt-rocker with promise only to continue to grow. As the year comes to an end, LØLØ has shared exclusively with idobi Radio her favorite full-length albums and EPs of 2023. From Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS and Boys Like Girls’ comeback album SUNDAY AT FOXWOODS to Knox’s newest EP, I’m So Good At Being Alone?, check out her top albums and EPs of the year below. Cheers to what’s to come from LØLØ and beyond in 2024!

GUTS — Olivia Rodrigo
Released: September 8, 2023

[GUTS is] probably one of my favorite albums in a very long time. I love how some songs are super rock and fun, and some are super sad and singer-songwriter-y. Olivia seems to always be singing about stuff that feels like it was ripped right out of my own diary. I love that she can do that, and I strive to do the exact same thing with my writing.

the record — boygenius
Released: March 31, 2023

When I saw boygenius play the record live at Coachella, I nearly fainted. I’m not sure how I was so late on the “boygenius train,” but somehow I was listening to a bunch of these songs live for the first time ever. I remember standing there with my roommate, mouth wide open, jaw completely dropped. I was completely enthralled. It was an out-of-body experience, to be honest. After that show, I went home and wrote tons of the songs that will be on MY first album. Super, super, super inspiring, and I wish it was longer.

Why Would I Watch — Hot Mulligan
Released: May 12, 2023

It’s crazy to think that I had never heard of Hot Mulligan back in 2021 when I got put on a tour with them. Now they’re one of my favorite bands and favorite people ever. I love this album. No skips. I remember after the Sad Summer Fest we did together when Tades [Sanville] secretly texted me some of the new album, listening to “Betty” and being like, “Oh FUCK, this one is going to hit.” Just knowing Tades and seeing how he is about his art has honestly inspired me so much—I think he is really special and I honestly feel like my writing changed after knowing him and hearing his songs.

NOMAD — Braden Bales
Released: July 7, 2023

I think Braden Bales is like a male Julia Michaels. The songwriting is so specific yet so honest, catchy, and interesting. It’s something that I definitely aim to do in my writing. He is honestly a poet, and everyone should check him out. Also a big fan of his second EP called CATALYST. He’s a pretty new artist, so I’m stoked for a full-length from him.

Blame My Ex — The Beaches
Released: September 15, 2023

My fellow Toronto pop/rock baddies, The Beaches. As you probably know, I love writing revenge songs. So it makes me happy that Brett’s memory has been honored with this perfect collection of “fuck u” songs. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!!

emails i can’t send fwd: — Sabrina Carpenter
Released: March 17, 2023

So many of the songs on this album really get me. I love it when artists are so specific in their lyrics: “I bet your house is where my other sock is” just rings so true, lol. I love how much we can feel Sabrina Carpenter’s attitude and personality through every song.

I’m So Good At Being Alone? — Knox
Released: October 6, 2023

A really cool new discovery has been Knox!! I think his writing is soooo smart and catchy. Really into this EP and the other one he put out before this. Really clever lyrics.

SUNDAY AT FOXWOODS — BOYS LIKE GIRLS
Released: October 20, 2023

This album is truly a work of art, and I was honored to get to watch them perform some of the songs from it every night for two months straight. I think I honestly learned a lot from that. The entire album is so so catchy, and “Miracle” is one of my all-time favorite new songs. So happy that BOYS LIKE GIRLS are back!
