Judah & the Lion best known for the radio hit “Take It All Back 2.0” just shared their new collaboration with “Punisher” singer K.Flay, “Son Of A Gun.”
The two alternative acts effortlessly blend their signature folk-rock sonics and irrefutably earworm-y basslines to craft the ideal late-fall track. Check out “Son Of A Gun” below.
“This song has a lot of bounce, but below the bounce is quite a bit of anger. Anger for me comes with a good dose of pettiness as well–what can I say? I’m human,” says Judah Akers, lead singer of Judah & the Lion. “The anger is very much a part of the foreshadowing of the new record. This song was written with my friend, Kristine [Flaherty/K.Flay], during the onset of the pandemic, we were writing over Zoom with a lot of different emotions swirling, so the song exemplifies that time period for us. [K.Flay] is the light of this song though. She is truly one of my favorite songwriters.”

Additionally, K.Flay shares how creating “Son Of A Gun” allowed her and Akers to experience a sense of relief. “This song feels like letting go of things, having a sense of humor when the world gets dark. I remember Judah and I riffing as we wrote the verses, really going back and forth in a natural, playful, exuberant way. And I hope that spirit shines through,” she says.
In an Instagram caption, Judah & the Lion shared, “Son of a Gun out now. Go and play it as loud as possible and we will dream of the day where us and @kflay do this live and we all explode.” Fingers crossed these two acts do get to tour together and play it for the fans.
On top of their collab with K.Flay, Judah & the Lion also released their heartache-inducing twangy track “Starting Over.” So basically, if you’re going through a breakup, moving, or just bittersweetly beginning a new chapter in your life, this song might just inspire a good crying session. Listen to it below.
While we don’t have a Judah & the Lion and K.Flay co-headlining tour on the books, the “Starting Over” artists are heading on tour in support of NEEDTOBREATHE. They are currently winding down their first leg and will head back to new venues in spring 2024. Check out the full dates and grab tickets here.
